What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Are you wondering what is search engine optimization? What is SEO? Our video will teach you about search engine optimization, what it is, why it matters, and some of the top search engines you can optimize for. Search engine optimization is most prominent through Google, Bing, and YouTube, which are 3 of the largest search engines in the world.

Search Engine Optimization is a massive field of study that is always changing. The leaders in the industry have been studying SEO for over 15 years and they have been through all of the updates, all of the innovations, and all of changes that help websites rank. At the end of the day, Google and other search engines want to return websites that give users the best information and the best user experience. A piece of content with high-quality backlinks that features in-depth information along with related video and graphics is more likely to rank than a brief article with no backlinks.

We first start by defining Search Engine Optimization. Our definition is that SEO is the process of optimizing your content and your website in order to appear in organic search engine results pages. There is a lot that goes into search engine optimization including content, website technology, website user experience, backlinks, social signals, and more. If you can be consistent in producing great content, you should be able to earn links naturally as people will gladly share your content and link to it from their own website. In addition, relationships with others in your industry can help if you are linking to each others relevant content.

We then show you some organic listings in the Google search engine, Bing search engine, and YouTube search engine. If you see what currently ranks and try to understand why it ranks, it becomes a lot easier to build your website, your content, and start to build relationships so you can develop backlinks.

Is Search Engine Optimization Dead?

SEO will never be dead, it will just always continue to change. Google is dominating the search results with shopping ads, large text ads, and the real estate on the search engine results pages keeps shrinking for organic results. In some ways, Google has taken tons of traffic from established websites through their knowledge graph. However, if you keep building unique content, covering news, building evergreen content, and building a better website than competitors, you can keep driving traffic with search engine optimization strategies. I refuse to believe anyone who says that SEO is a dying art because I see first-hand how much traffic it drives to websites on a daily basis.
