Yoast is just a tool to make things easier. SEO boils down to creating good content that people want to read and getting quality backlinks to it.

If your content is great then there’s less work in getting backlinks.

You can take the on-page SEO checklist that the Yoast plugin adds to the WordPress page editor and manually make sure that you checking all the boxes on the checklist. This is how I used to do it for many years, Yoast just made it faster and easier.

All I do for SEO is write or have content written for me and make sure my on-page SEO is solid. I just use Yoast because it helps go faster and let’s outsourcers do acceptable SEO.
