Etsy has said that title should be “short and sweet.” Do they literally mean that short titles will place better in search, or do they just mean that they don’t want people to write titles that are full of keywords and not written for customers to read easily? This Etsy SEO tutorial is a very unscientific test to see whether a short title or a longer title will work better, everything else being exactly the same for the two listings.

Etsy recommends short titles but their search engine prefers long titles. Until etsy changes that- I use every word possible. If I did what etsy said, I would not be found.
Exactly. As long as their search is reading the entire title, I’ll use the entire title space. And they’re still reading the whole thing according to the stats.
Just to ask are the two listings the same age? As obviously the number of favourites, sales etc are big factors.
Exactly the same age, I did them at the same time. They were both a new butterfly design I listed so I decided to do this while I had a totally 100% new never before favorited item to try it on.
